Prof. Anne Klassen

Prof. Klassen focuses primarily in plastic surgery where many conditions are complex and resource intensive. She has co-developed the Q-Portfolio series of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) to provide a means to evaluate outcomes for children and adults having procedures such as life altering surgery to change the face or head shape for craniofacial conditions, reconstruction of a breast or face damaged by cancer and revisions of burns or scars. PROMs are crucial for measuring the impact of such treatments because how a person looks, functions and feels is best evaluated through her self-report. Prof. Klassen completed a DPhil on the topic of health outcomes in the Health Services Research Unit in Oxford. Currently, she is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario (Canada).
